glad you found this useful. ironically, now, i got an iPad2 for my birthday and have “kitted” it out with iSSH app and a bluetooth keyboard so it’s now becoming my mini travel machine (so I’m actually going to sell my VAIO P-Series! 8-p)
but I was still delighted to get a non-windoze OS on the little great Sony *and* to get video acceleration to work — seeing 720p HD h.264 video play on it is pretty mindblowing!

What an amazing place. Really took me back (and to be honest made me wish I had mentally entertained Architecture as a major at least to explore it (Psychology became my “backup plan” when I wasn’t sure I’d be able to “make it” in Engineering’s rigorous and highly theoretical Comp Sci.! 8-))

How cool would it be if you, me, and Kolin Ohi all made it back at the same time, huh?

Don’t know if you got a chance to see, but the new Architecture building where Rand Hall and SIbley used to be–which might now be re-named–is gorgeous. Ditto a small box outside the Johnson Museum that reportedly goes down nine floors or something. Cool to see the new stuff, comforting to recognize the old stuff.

it seems most of the issues people have had with the C aspect of qt-faststart relate to 32bit vs 64bit compiling — which we don’t really have to worry about in our setup when compiling from ffmpeg as instructed. (and having been “raised on C”, i don’t have any major issues w/ C vs. python.

was there something compelling otherwise about the python variant you liked?

In truth, I haven’t done tons of playing with my ubuntu VAIO — been busy w/ other stuff recently and it’s mostly a travel computer for me. So no, I hadn’t gotten anywhere towards some of the nice/special things like scroll w/ the third button.
But *yah* that’d be nice to have work!

We rode with 21 riders total — our biggest group ride yet! It started cold, foggy, *very* windy, and 49 degrees! At the top of Diablo it was 85 degrees and blazing sun. What a day!

A small number of riders only went up to the halfway point. The rest made it up and down safely, phew! Everyone was able to keep a decent pace and everyone had good experience climbing hills on bikes!

We had 1 flat near the end (once again to Hunter).

We had 2 riders get severe “jump-off-the-bike-in-pain” cramps in the calves and hamstrings. It was a longer and tougher ride than they were used to and it’s possible food and electrolytes may have added to that. They rallied after large late lunches (with bananas and electrolyte drinks!) in Danville and were able to avoid bailing out early. A+ for persistence and effort!

Finish times range: 3 hours, 10 minutes to 4 hours, 30 minutes

(multiple stops for lunch and coffee)

Hunter and I each got a flat, at separate times, so we both wound up by the end being the sweeps. That was just fine since everyone made it though the entire route and everyone kept safe, phew!

Yay surreal climbing routes. I was really happy that a bunch of you commented to me how you enjoyed the strange sites and choice of the course!

we 3 made it to, up and down Mt. Diablo (halfway point) and managed to avoid any rain luckily. hooray!

i’m updating the route sheet now with the *real* mileage numbers now….
